Transmanche Ferries
Transmanche Ferries was originally set up in 2001 to replace the cancelled P&O Stena ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe which stopped operating in 1999.
Under the initiative of the President of the Conseil Général de la Seine maritime, Charles Revet, who refused to let the route disappear five public bodies:
- the Conseil Général de la Seine Maritime,
- the Conseil Général de la Somme,
- the town of Dieppe,
- the town of Fécamp,
- the Communauté de communes. (local authority association)
and three Chambers of Commerce:
Transmanche's mission was to take all steps to ensure that all trade and tourist links between the Seine Maritime and Somme districts and the South of England were preserved and developed.
There are currently two ships in operation on the Newhaven - Dieppe, the "Dieppe" and the "Sardinia Vera" that can offer sailings every day all year round.
In the future Transmanche intend to order 3 specially built ships custom designed for the Newhaven - Dieppe route bringing a faster journey with all the comfort of a cruise ship.
