SeaFrance Ferries
SeaFrance is the only French operator between Dover and Calais. It was established in 1841 to maintain rail links between British and Continental rail networks. It was wholly managed by SNCF until 1990. It relauched on 1 January 1996 following the end of the pooling agreement between Sealink and SNAT. In the same year SeaFrance Ltd. was established responsible for sales and marketing of the new service in the UK as well as port operations in Dover. Last year SeaFrance carried over 3 million passengers and over a million passenger and freight vehicles across the English Channel. The companies annual turn over is is the region of €203 million and with staff of around 1,500 staff Sea France is the largest employer in Calais. The ferries offer excellent French food on-board and along with first class service provide a great atmosphere.
