Holyhead Dublin Ferry
Holyhead Dublin FerryIrish Ferries' new Superferry, Ulysses, services the Holyhead Dublin ferry route. There are two sailings daily with a duration of about 3 hours. The ferry is the largest car ferry in the world and can accommodate almost 2,000 passengers. The high speed Jonathan Swift also services this route (journey duration: 1 hour). HolyheadThe port of Holyhead is on the far west of the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. The two ferry terminals, one for passengers and one for vehicles, are operated by Irish Ferries and Stena Line who run the Holyhead to Dublin Ferry services. The town centre of Holyhead has many places to eat in addition to a cinema and theatre. Holyhead also offers excellent golfing, fishing and sailing facilities along with great scenery, beaches and walks. There's a maritime museum where you can find out about the 100 or so ship wrecks in the area. The South Stack Lighthouse is worth a visit, along with the burial chambers of Barcloddiad Yr Gawes and the church in the sea of Porth Cwyfan. The facilities at the terminal include cafes serving a selection of snacks and hot and cold drinks, there's also a mother and baby room, disabled toilets, a bureau de change and cash points. DublinDublin port serves almost 1.5 million passengers a year and ranks as the busiest passenger ferry port in Ireland. There are up to 18 sailings a day to the UK and continental Europe. The port is also served by cruise liners, which occasionally travel up the River Liffey in the the city centre dock at the Alexandra Quay. Throughout Dublin and the surrounding areas you'll find a great deal of visitor attractions. In fact you'll find around 200 art groups, 37 libraries, 6 festivals, 14 theatres and 29 museums. On top of this Dublin has top nightlife and throughout it's many bars and nightclubs, you'll notice the drink of choice is the Irish favourite Guinness, which has it's brewery in the city. There's also planty in the surrounding areas of Dublin, from sandy beaches to fishing villages, mountain walks to historic gardens and homes. Phoenix Park is a nature reserve, grazing deer, a zoo with 700 animals and well tended formal gardens. |
