Harwich to Hook of Holland Ferry
Stena Lines have two daily sailings to Hook of Holland in the Netherlands from Harwick. Both passengers and freight are accommodated on the ferries which take around 3 hours, 40 minutes. HarwichHarwich International Port is a leading multi-purpose passenger and freight port - one of the best in the UK. Harwich port was originally built by the Great Eastern Railway as a rail ferry port in the 1880s. Over the last century the port has been transformed into the modern and multi-purpose port it now is. The port was originally named Parkeston Quay, after the Great Eastern Railways chairman - Charles Parks. In 1997, Stena Lines introduced the HSS 1500 fast ferry Harwich - Hook of Holland service. Harwich as a port was redeveloped in readiness with a £12 million project which included a dedicated linkspan and berth for the Stena ship as well as major shoreside improvements. Hook of HollandThe fastest sea route to Holland from England is the service from Harwich to the Hook of Holland (Hoek van Holland). You can get there at speed on Stena Line's HSS (High-speed Sea Service). As such the Hook of Holland is regarded as the ideal gateway into Holland and Europe. It is within easy driving distance of major towns and cities such as The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Brussels in Belgium and Cologne. The Hook of Holland is a port and it's purpose is an entry point into The Netherlands and Europe for overseas visitors and merchants, as a result there's not much else around the port. |
