1. If I make a booking, will I receive my tickets through the post?
No, you will receive a booking reference number on screen and also via email. Simply present this reference number when you arrive at the port, along with all your other travel documents (e.g passport)
2. How do I know which ferry company I'm booking with?
Once you have made you're booking you'll receive your on-screen and email confirmation. This includes ferry operating company, port address, check-in time and other essential information. Also, if you look at the terms and conditions for your quotation/booking you will see the operators you have chosen for your routes.
3. What time do I need to arrive at the port prior to departure?
Your precise check-in time is detailed on your booking confirmation (on screen and in the email). However, as a guideline with most operators you need to arrive 60 minutes before for vehicle departures, 30 minutes before for foot passengers.
4. There's an error stating 'Payment in conflicting currencies', what do I do?
This message means that you have selected routes that must be paid for in different currencies. Therefore to get a price you must do a separate quote for each route.
e.g. Dover-Calais (GBP) and Ancona-Patras (EUR) must be done as 2 separate single bookings.
5. Is my credit card number secure when I make a booking?
Yes, all online bookings are handled via a secure server which encrypts all your details into a format that cannot be recognised. This website uses Thawte SSL encryption technology - for more information please see Thawte.com.
6. Can I make a booking without a car?
Yes, to make a foot passenger booking select 'foot passenger' from the vehicle drop down at stage 2 of the booking process.
7. Can I take my pet (cat or dog) with me on the ferry?
Not all ferry operators have the facility to take
pets, therefore you will need to contact us on 08704-580401 or mail@aferry.to
before booking to confirm that they are able to take your pet. We can then
add them to your booking afterwards (approximately £15 per pet, per leg
depending on route and operator). If bringing a pet into the UK, the pet
will have to be part of the Pets Passport Scheme. For more information
please visit the official
Defra
website.
Depending on the ferry operator and route, your pet may have to remain in
the car for the duration of the crossing, with no passenger access.
8. If I arrive early, can get on the ferry straight away?
No, you cannot board until check-in opens.
9. I want to book an outward journey with 2 people and a return journey with 1 person, is this possible?
Unfortunately, our booking system does not allow this at present. You need to do this as 2 separate bookings. In the example above you would need to do one booking for a 1 person return and one booking for a 1 person single journey.
10. Is the driver included in the number of passengers?
In the Passengers drop-down box on the booking form you need to state the total number of people traveling in the vehicle, including the driver (eg. 1 driver & 2 passengers = 3 passengers in total). |
